We are a design house rooted in the conviction that every object in a room is a spatial decision. Amsterdam Editorial exists to make those decisions extraordinary.
The Origin
Story
Amsterdam Editorial was founded in 2018 by Lukas Van Der Berg, a former architect who grew disillusioned with the disposable nature of contemporary furniture. Working from a converted canal warehouse in Amsterdam-Noord, the studio began as a one-man protest against mediocrity.
Today, we collaborate with a network of master craftspeople across Europe — woodworkers in the Netherlands, leather artisans in Italy, metalworkers in Germany. Every piece is designed in Amsterdam and made to order, ensuring no two objects are identical.
Our showroom, embedded within the workshop itself, allows visitors to witness the making process — sawdust, leather scraps, and the scent of walnut oil. We believe in showing the work, not hiding it.

A former architect turned furniture designer, Lukas founded Amsterdam Editorial on a simple premise: furniture should be held to the same standard as the buildings that house it. His work has been featured in Wallpaper*, Dezeen, and the Stedelijk Museum.

Our Principles
Material Honesty
We never veneer, never laminate, never disguise. Every material is what it appears to be. Walnut is solid walnut. Leather is full-grain, hand-stitched. Concrete is architectural grade. The beauty is in the truth.
Made to Order
We produce nothing in advance. Every piece begins as an order and ends as a singular object. This eliminates waste, ensures quality, and means your furniture was made specifically for you and your space.
Generational Design
We design for decades, not seasons. Our 10-year structural warranty is a promise, but our ambition is that your grandchildren will inherit these pieces. Trends expire. Architecture endures.
